Speech-Language Pathology

The inability to communicate directly affects childrens' ability to learn, to develop and maintain social relations, to become independent, and to function effectively in society. Speech and language therapy focuses on the development of functional communication including:

  • intention
  • pragmatics
  • sound production
  • resonance
  • voice
  • fluency
  • language
  • cognition
  • comprehension
  • oral-motor development
  • feeding
  • swallowing

Our goal is to increase communication skills for children, including the multicultural and bilingual population, with language delays, hearing loss, and difficulty producing speech sounds. Our speech therapists provide clinical/educational services, prevention, education, and research.
